About Steven
Steven grew up with a 110 camera as he traveled. With Cindy studying photography in college, he often would sit as a model for her and grew more and more interested in taking pictures himself. After his first summer working, he bought a Ricoh XR-10 35mm camera, which he still has to this day.
When he was 15, he started to learn how to process his own black and white film and prints and still does work in the darkroom to this day, even though the studio uses digital cameras for their clients. He loves the process of creating the image from start to end, and even creating images that didn't exist, all using enlargers and darkroom techniques rather than computer imaging software. The influence for his darkroom work is Jerry Uelsmann, a master of creating montages in the darkroom.
Below is a scan of one of his darkroom prints call A Watching Light.
